Thought I should break up the rants and post something music related. I’m currently hearting on this mixtape from Robotxy (myspace), a dude who I don’t know much about. It starts off all funky and disco with a remix of ‘A Fifth of Beethoven’ which I haven’t heard before. Although, after those handclaps, you totally expect that SebanstiAn-style beat to drop in, and it’s epic. But then the mix gets all deep and mellow, finally finishing up where it started with a Michael Jackson edit.

Anyway, guy’s got a bunch of newer mixes on his myspace, but this one is where I’m at right now.

I posted something on z-share. Amazingly, it’s still there after a few months with no activity.

Post Paucity // New Mix.

5 08 2008

I know, things have seemed a little dead around here. Actually, while I’ve been two busy here, I’ve been going nuts on the Tumblr. I think the real question there is — do you really want to know that much?

Anyway, to keep you going here’s a new mix of July tracks I bashed together last night. I tried to keep it pumping while throwing in some of my more melodic favourites, like Eedio and that Duke Dumont remix. Also some oldies in there, I’m talking about a Daft Punk remix and a Midnight Juggernauts classic.

Track: Alblog DJs – Punch Crunch July Mix (listen).

Riding mix.

So I’ve rekindled my love of the two-wheeled transport, and being the music aficionado I am I decided it was time I had an appropriate soundtrack. I’ll preface this by saying I never ride in traffic with headphones on — even though a hoon driving a commonwhore with 101db is perfectly legal and cycling while listening to an iPod is not — it’s just not smart.

But some mornings I just need a bit of a beat to get the cadence happening.

This mix reflects my somewhat strange musical taste, so there’s a lot of Chemical Brothers, and recent Cut Copy and Presets, along with some old Death in Vegas which is just awesome to listen to burning down an empty road on 53-14. I’ve tried to restrict it to album versions only (the only remix is Star Guitar by Sinichi Osawa, which is so good it could be an album version). So in that spirit few of the tracks are properly ‘mixed’ ie. beat-matched, mainly just a bit of cross-fade action. I still think it works nicely for the purpose.

Track: Out’ the Saddle (128kbps) – Mix (listen)

Tracklist is, as usual, down below.
